Comrades

 

             By the time you read this Mid-Winter will be over, and their will be only a few short months left in this year. I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the students for your Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen essays, and hope to see you back next year.

 

             As of this writing the 9^th District membership stands at 94.58% with 12 post in the District now at 100% or higher. I thank all the post commanders and their membership Chairmen for the effort they have made to membership this year. Without membership we will no longer be able to reach out and help Veterans in need or their families. We use the numbers in our membership in Washington to help pass legislation to help Veterans and to improve the VA system and see that no Veteran is left behind or forgotten. Comrades that is why we are here….

 

             Keep reporting what your post is doing on your activity and hospital reports, if you don’t know if it can go on the activity or hospital report put it there and let Department be the judge. Just keep reporting.

 

             Comrades remember that nominations of officers are in March, with nominations staying open until election of officers in April. After the election in April send one copy of the election report to National, one to Department, and on to the District Commander. If you have a Men’s Auxiliary at your post one copy of their election report must go to Department and on to the District Commander, They must be done by the end of April.

 

             Let me leave you with something that one of the members in the 9^th District gave to me just before he died this year.

 

             THE V.F.W. IS NOT REALLY AN ORGANIZATION. IT IS A CONCEPT--- AND  IDEA--- AN ENDLESS DEVOTION--- A RALLYING POINT--- A CENTER OF PARTIOTIC CONCERN AND LOVE OF FELLOWMAN SUCH AS THE WORLD HAS NEVER SEEN…
